Energy subsea construction vessel Rem Pioneer enters next phase of construction, moving from Vietnam to Norway for final outfitting
The hull of Rem Offshore’s low-emissions energy support construction vessel has been loaded on a Seaway 7 semi-submersible heavy-lift ship for transit from Haiphong, Vietnam to Norway for final outfitting.
The ship’s designer, Skipsteknisk, reported the news and posted photos of Rem Pioneer being loaded onto 54,000-dwt Seaway Osprey in a social media post. The hull of the vessel was constructed by Vietnam’s Song Cam.
Once it arrives in Norway, Rem Pioneer will be outfitted at Myklebust Verft. Built to DNV class, the 117-m vessel is an ST-245 ESCV design and will be equipped with a 250-tonne offshore crane, energy storage and shore power systems, and have a clear deck area of 1,400 m2. It will be delivered in August 2026.
It is one of two subsea vessels ordered by Rem Offshore in 2024. The other, Rem Ocean, is under construction at Song Cam. Rem Ocean is an inspection, maintenance and repair vessel based on a Skipsteknisk ST-245 IMR design. When delivered in 2027, Rem Ocean will be deployed on the Norwegian continental shelf under a landmark contract secured with Equinor. The contract, secured in collaboration with DeepOcean, is Rem Offshore’s largest charter award ever – an eight-year, Nkr1Bn (US$91M) IMR contract with the Norwegian oil and gas major. This eight-year charter agreement includes additional extension options.
