Starlite Ferries Inc, a Phillipines-based passenger ferry operator, has extended the scope of its turbocharger service agreement with Accelleron
The Philippines archipelago is dependent on ferries for daily commuting and Starlite Ferries serves around 10,000 passengers and more than 1,500 vehicles daily.
The service agreement awarded by the ferry operator covers eight roro vessels for a further three years. Seven vessels were previously covered under a Turbo
LifecycleCare agreement with Accelleron (formerly ABB Turbocharging). The operator has extended the scope and duration of the agreement, adding another ship to the seven previously covered. To improve services, Starlite will also extend its deal with Accelleron to cover digital services, implementing the engine optimisation service Tekomar Xpert across those same vessels.
Starlite believes Tekomar Xpert will help vessels run more efficiently, with the digital platform allowing operators to manage environmental compliance, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and optimise fuel efficiency, with instant engine diagnostics and advisories delivered automatically throughout every voyage.
Starlite Ferries president and chief executive Chryss Alfonsus V Damuy said, “Our partnership with Accelleron has helped Starlite Ferries build on its reputation as the ferry operator of choice in the Philippines. Under the previous contract, our close relationship and Accelleron’s timely service enabled us to continue serving customers reliably even during the challenges of the Covid pandemic. We are delighted to extend the agreement and to take advantage of Accelleron’s expertise in digital optimisation.”
Turbo LifecycleCare agreements offer predictable budgeting and cost-saving efficiency for operators of Accelleron turbochargers for four-stroke engines in the marine industry and power generation. The agreements covers standard spare parts, wear and tear, and labour, with Accelleron reducing the administrative burden by taking over responsibility for maintenance planning and scheduling.
Accelleron said the contracts are based on actual running hours, and thus guarantees uptime across the entire service lifecycle.
With this contract, Accelleron retains responsibility for service planning and spare parts ordering for 16 type A135-M turbochargers.
Branch manager, Philippines, JooTian Lim said, “With the introduction of Tekomar Xpert, we look forward to delivering even greater opportunities for efficiency and cost savings over the next three years.”
