Kuok Singapore Maritime Group is investing in a new fleet management platform to support its digitalisation drive
Kuok Singapore Maritime Group has selected classification society ABS’ Nautical Systems (NS) to provide fleet management software for its two subsidiaries, shipowner Pacific Carriers Limited (PCL) and offshore vessel operator PACC Offshore Services Holdings (POSH).
These companies will install modules of ABS’ NS software on tankers, bulk carriers, gas carriers, feeder container ships and offshore support vessels.
POSH and PCL operate a combined fleet of 245 vessels. They will use software for technical and crew management as Kuok Group increases digitalisation across its marine operations.
“We see significant potential for operational efficiencies through digitalising operations and ABS can help us achieve this while maintaining compliance,” said PACC Ship Management senior general manager Sia Geun Teck.
NS modules will digitalise workflows including fleet maintenance, purchasing and compliance. It will support Kuok Group as it implements a digital platform that supports mobile business intelligence and adopting internet of things technology across its fleets.
POSH Fleet Services senior general manager Chan Joo Huat said it was an exciting time for POSH “as we move towards adopting technologies to enhance our workflow productivity”.
He said “With the voluminous data captured and streamlined on a single platform, ABS NS will put us in a better position to undertake predictive data analytics analysis, to make better-informed decisions more quickly.”
PCL operates a fleet of more than 100 oceangoing vessels including dry bulk carriers, multipurpose vessels, product tankers, gas carriers and feeder container ships. It transports dry bulk commodities including coal, iron ore, grains, logs, fertiliser, ores, refined petroleum products, liquefied petroleum gas, unitised cargoes and containers. It has offices in the main shipping centres worldwide, such as Singapore, London, New York, Melbourne, Mumbai, Beijing, Shanghai, Kuala Lumpur and Hamburg.
POSH is headquartered in Singapore and has a diverse fleet of more than 100 offshore vessels servicing oil and gas drilling and production operations and offshore renewables.
Cyber secure fleet management will be discussed at this month’s Riviera Maritime Cyber Risk Management Forum, which will be in association with and hosted by Norton Rose Fulbright, in London, 25 June 2019.
