Tug and barge owner Crowley has integrated its design house Jensen Maritime into its engineering division
Seattle-based Jensen is now part of the Crowley Engineering Services group, extending the whole company’s diverse business portfolio.
Crowley Shipping senior vice president and general manager Matt Yacavone said this will lead to a strong, single source of engineering and design capabilities. “The new group fits our strategic vision for growth by better connecting naval architecture and marine engineering customers with the full suite of Crowley’s experience and knowledge from ship assist tugs to emerging and traditional offshore energy services,” said Mr Yacavone.
Crowley’s overall knowledge of managing and operating vessels includes tugboats, tank vessels, articulated tug-barges and other commercial and government vessels.
“This exciting transformation reflects the evolution of Crowley’s capabilities as a single source for engineering and design since Jensen joined Crowley as a subsidiary in 2008,” said Mr Yacavone.
Following this integration, the diverse range of solutions provided by Crowley Shipping includes the design, engineering, construction management and operation of vessels, ship assistance and tanker escort services, and operating and managing petroleum tank vessels and global cargo ships.
Crowley also provides expertise in offshore energy installations, project management and wind energy solutions.
Despite the integration, Jensen’s brand of design and naval architecture will continue to be offered under Crowley Engineering. Legacy and new designs will be marketed as Crowley, while indicating Design Powered by Jensen.
Crowley Engineering Services vice president Ray Martus said this integration leverages the combined Crowley and Jensen experience and portfolios. “This transformative change will best take advantage of our teams’ knowledge and potential to lead more growth for Crowley and more value for customers,” said Mr Martus.
Crowley’s engineering services team delivers a full range of marine and engineering solutions. This includes conceptual vessel design and modification, shipyard management, and onsite consulting services for all types of marine projects worldwide.
