DESMI Ocean Guard chief executive Rasmus Folsø reports on the last 12 months and looks ahead to the challenges of 2023
One of the highlights of 2022 was DESMI Ocean Guard being awarded the prestigious Børsen Gazelle award as the fastest growing company in the northern region in Denmark. The main driving force was the ballast water system retrofit market, but in 2022 we have also seen a strong growth in orders for newbuild projects, both in Asia and Europe.
We have been extremely busy commissioning our CompactClean ballast water management systems, and we even commissioned more than 100 systems in one month.
There have been challenges, too, in 2022. The global supply chain has been unpredictable with long lead times, but overall, 2022 has been a fantastic year for DESMI Ocean Guard, with turnover doubling compared with 2021.
The company is enjoying a continued strong order intake and ended 2022 in the position of being able to offer short lead times and reliable delivery performance to our customers.
The year ahead
2023 has opened with a strong orderbook and we expect to be busy with both retrofit and newbuild projects. We had expected peak orders in 2021 and 2022, but it appears orders will continue to flow at a significant level into 2023.
Our install base has grown significantly and we are increasingly busy servicing the CompactClean systems in operation. We have five-year service agreements with many customers, while other customers order the service annually.
We are positive about the year to come, although we foresee a slight decline in overall activity level compared with 2022.
