Norwegian offshore support vessel (OSV) owner has won contracts for several of its assets in Brazil and Argentina
DOF Group has won contracts for several of its vessels and subsea support services in South America as energy companies strive to maintain assets and ramp up oil production.
State-backed energy group Petrobras has awarded three contracts to DOF for services involving vessels and remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) offshore Brazil.
DOF will support Petrobras’ subsea inspection programmes in three contracts with a combined value of US$390M to provide more than 4,000 planned inspections.
This Oslo, Norway-listed owner expects to deploy at least three vessels equipped with work-class ROVs. One of these vessels will also be outfitted and crewed to perform shallow air diving inspections.
Operations under these contracts will cover Brazil’s three main offshore hydrocarbon basins (Santos, Campos and Espirito Santo) and are expected to begin in H1 2026 for a duration of three years.
“The inspection-based nature of the contracts as opposed to a dayrate structure offers valued flexibility to our growing fleet in Brazil,” said DOF chief executive Mons Aase.
In another deal, DOF gained three new short-term contracts in Brazil from various energy companies. The aggregate value of these contracts is less than US$15M.
An unnamed oil major has contracted 2009-built Skandi Salvador and 2006-built Geoholm for short-term engagements in the Espirito Santo and Santos basins.
MT 6000 MK II-design Geoholm started its contract in the middle of September and is supporting mooring operations using an ROV for around two weeks.
Skandi Salvador will support subsea equipment retrieval on a 10-day work charter starting in the last week of September.
This STX ROV 06 design vessel will also support subsea and well intervention operations using a work-class ROV and subsea crane, under a 60-day charter starting in early November 2025.
In Argentina, TotalEnergies extended its contract with DOF’s 2000-built construction support vessel Skandi Patagonia for three more years.
This MT 6016 design vessel will provide diving services and use its 50-tonne crane to support subsea construction and maintenance work. TotalEnergies has two further one-year extension options for this vessel.
In September 2025, DOF’s subsidiary, DOF Denmark, signed an agreement with an unnamed owner for the sale of the 2002-built anchor handling tug, supply vessel Skandi Handler, for delivery in Q4 2025.
