A Norwegian vessel owner has been contracted to provide mooring prelay services for the next FPSO to arrive in oil-rich Guyana
DOF Group has gained a large turnkey contract to prelay the mooring system for a floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) facility in deep waters offshore Guyana.
The Norwegian vessel owner will lay the moorings for Modec’s Hammerhead FPSO, which will start producing oil in 2027 in ExxonMobil’s prolific Stabroek block.
As a subcontractor to Modec, DOF will provide inhouse project management, engineering, procurement, a logistics base, transport and installation services.
DOF’s 2018-built, 138-m Skandi Implementer will be used to install piles and 2011-built, 107-m Skandi Skansen will install the mooring lines in Q2 and Q3 2027.
“DOF is increasingly recognised as global turnkey contractor combining our inhouse expertise in subsea and mooring installation with the top of the class assets,” said DOF chief executive Mons Aase.
According to automatic information system data, UK-flagged Skandi Implementer is in Mexico, supporting the Miamite FPSO project, and Norway flagged Skandi Skansen is in Vitoria, Brazil.
