Höegh LNG signed a binding 10-year time charter contract with the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate for the Höegh Esperanza FSRU
German energy firm Uniper said on Thursday that the 170,000-m3 FSRU had arrived in Wilhelmshaven where it will soon be integrated with Germany’s first LNG import terminal.
The vessel is to be moored in Wilhelmshaven and operated by Uniper, acting as agent on behalf of the Ministry.
Höegh president and chief executive Erik Nyheim said, “We are very pleased to be signing the time charter contract with the Federal Government of Germany, and look forward to working in close collaboration with Uniper in Wilhelmshaven.”
Höegh is supplying two 170,000-m3 FSRUs in Germany, one at Wilhelmshaven and another at Brunsbüttel as the country’s first LNG import hubs. And last week, commodities trader Trafigura secured US$3Bn in LNG supplies from American suppliers which will make its way into the German gas grid as part of a four-year loan deal between Trafigura, the German Government and more than 25 banks including Deutsche Bank.
