The 267-year old engine company, which began as Maschinenfabrik Augsburg-Nürnberg (MAN) in 1758, has taken the name Everllence
The former MAN Energy Solutions is now operating under a new name and has become ‘Everllence’. The new brand identity applies worldwide, according to the company.
Everllence will remain under the Volkswagen Group umbrella of companies, and the portfolio of products and services is unchanged.
Everllence chief executive Uwe Lauber unveiled the new company nameplate at headquarters in Augsburg, Germany on 4 June.
"Today, we are no longer known in the market for just engines and turbomachinery, but also as a supplier of large heat pumps, carbon capture and storage, as a driver of climate-neutral shipping, and as part of the hydrogen ramp-up. This is what we want to express with our new name, Everllence," Dr Lauber said.
To explain the new name, the company said Everllence is a combination that merges the two English-language terms ‘ever’ and ‘excellence’.
The renaming is not the first in the company’s recent history. Formerly MAN Diesel & Turbo, the company was renamed MAN Energy Solutions in 2018. At that time, the company had begun to concentrate its business on technological solutions for reducing climate-damaging emissions in shipping, energy generation and industry as a new business area and strategic focus.
The company was founded in 1758 and has a history of producing engines for various applications including marine, power generation and oil and gas. In 2011, MAN merged with another leading engine manufacturer, Volkswagen Marine, to form the current MAN Energy Solutions. Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft acquired a majority share in the parent company MAN ES with its workforce of over 54,000 people worldwide, in a gradual process culminating on 9 November, 2011. MAN has been an independently operating brand of the Volkswagen Group since that time.
According to Volkswagen Group, a majority of Everllence sales are generated by the production and sale of diesel engines and commercial vehicles.
