Marco Polo Marine’s Taiwanese subsidiary PKR Offshore (PKRO) has secured a framework agreement to provide crew transfer vessels (CTVs) to Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy for offshore wind projects in Taiwan and South Korea
PKRO managing director Kelvin Teo said, “Following our previous successful partnership with Siemens Gamesa in Taiwan, we are proud that Siemens Gamesa has again selected PKRO for this longer-term CTV framework agreement for Taiwan and Korea.
“With the accelerating growth of the offshore wind industry, there is a pressing need for more CTVs to facilitate the installation and servicing of offshore wind turbines.”
Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy marine asset manager Wayne Cheng said, “This framework agreement with Marco Polo Marine enables us to proactively secure vessel capacity, securing the seamless execution of our future construction projects in the regions.”
PKRO has worked with Siemens Gamesa since 2018, contributing to the construction of offshore windfarms in Taiwan. The company said it plans to expand its footprint beyond Taiwan, including new markets such as Korea and other up-and-coming offshore wind markets in Asia.
The agreement is effective from 2024 to 2026, with an option to extend to 2030.
The maiden CTV charter in Korea will commence in Q4 2024 and mark the group’s entry into a new market.
