A Turkish vessel owner has introduced a newbuild harbour tug with a fire-fighting system for ship handling and emergency response
Marin Tug has taken delivery of a new Bogacay-class harbour tug from Sanmar Shipyards to support ships in Turkish ports and tackle off-ship fires.
Inceburun was built to Robert Allan Ltd’s RAmparts 2400SX-MK II design, which is exclusive to Sanmar, with 70 tonnes of bollard pull and a free running speed of 12 knots.
Built for efficient ship handling and low manning operations, it features advanced machinery automation and a wider beam compared with similar-sized tugs for greater stability. This 24-m tug has a moulded beam of 12 m, a depth of 5 m, draught of 6 m and a FiFi-1 class fire-fighting system.
Since 1998, Istanbul, Turkey-headquartered Marin Tug has provided harbour towage and pilotage, offshore towage, salvage and emergency response in several Turkish ports.
It has had a successful commercial relationship with Sanmar for almost two decades, starting in 2006 when the Turkish builder delivered two twin-screw tugs with 45 tonnes of bollard pull.
“We have provided Marin Tug with the modern, technologically advanced, efficient and environmentally aware tugboat it needs to further its successful business,” confirmed Sanmar Shipyards commercial director, Ruchan Civgin.
