Evangelos Marinakis-backed Capital Executive Ship Management has partnered with Nicholas E Madias-led SPV Axis Maritime to create a new dry bulk venture
The new entity, Capital Axis Maritime, will provide inhouse commercial and technical management for a fleet of 20 bulk carriers – including newbuildings – with a total carrying capacity of approximately 3.0M dwt and an average vessel age of eight years.
The fleet comprises two Newcastlemax, four Capesize, and seven Kamsarmax/Panamax vessels, alongside seven additional Capesize bulk carriers currently under construction, with delivery scheduled for 2027.
Capital Axis Maritime has already appeared on the shipping data platform Equasis, where most of the listed vessels come from Capital Executive Ship Management’s fleet. According to the company website, Capital Executive currently controls 10 bulk carriers.
The Capesize newbuildings are also expected to largely come from Capital’s fleet, following the Evangelos Marinakis-led group’s recent order for four units at China’s Hengli Heavy Industries.
The newly formed entity has been contacted for comment on its full fleet composition.
Nicholas E Madias, who has been appointed president and chief executive of Capital Axis Maritime, said the partnership is designed to create long-term value for stakeholders through both cost savings and revenue growth.
“By combining Capital Executive Ship Management’s strengths with our deep expertise in the dry bulk sector, built over 25 years of ownership and hands-on asset management experience, we are optimistic that this collaboration will unlock significant potential,” he said.
