MOL data analytics software gains class approval

Japanese classification society ClassNK granted its innovation endorsements for products and solutions to MOL’s Focus data analytics system. This collects and analyses detailed data from information technology on vessels to monitor and improve performance, reduce emissions and raise safety.

During its certification, ClassNK verified the functions of Focus to ensure it would achieve MOL’s goals. It checked the vessel performance analysis function integrates abundant operational knowledge and information from the naval architecture, and verified data analytics and precise performance analysis enables MOL to sail its vessels with low greenhouse gas emissions and safe operations, with effective support from shore.

ClassNK verified Focus uses noon reports from vessels to improve data accuracy and visualisation, and the fleet tour function uses general arrangement and photographs taken by a 360˚ camera.

In addition, MOL’s design for onboard living quarters was reviewed for sustainability, hygiene, privacy and health and well-being for seafarers.
