Angeliki Frangou-led Navios Maritime Partners has intensified its fleet renewal efforts over the past two years, building a substantial US$2Bn orderbook
The US-listed shipping company took delivery of 12 vessels from this orderbook in 2024, including three Aframax/LR2 tankers and nine 5,300-TEU container vessels.
According to the latest Q3 earnings update, Navios Partners owns and operates a fleet of 179 vessels, with a total carrying capacity of 15.8M dwt and 263,564 TEU, including ships under construction. The company’s fleet comprises 73 bulk carriers, 56 tankers and 50 container vessels, reflecting its diverse market presence.
The orderbook
Navios Partners currently has 25 vessels under construction, consisting of 19 tankers and six container ships. In the tanker segment, the company has 13 Aframax/LR2 newbuildings, each with a capacity of 115,000 dwt, scheduled for delivery between the first half of 2025 and 2028. All these vessels have secured long-term charter contracts extending to 2030-2033.
Additionally, six MR2 product tankers of 52,000 dwt are expected to be delivered between 2025 and 2027. The first two of these have already been fixed on long-term charters, with contracts running until November 2030 and May 2031.
In the container vessel sector, the orderbook includes two 7,700-TEU vessels and four 7,900-TEU vessels. Deliveries are set between 2025 and 2027, with all ships reportedly secured under long-term charters at attractive rates.
Active S&P player
Beyond its newbuilding programme, Navios Partners has remained active in the sale and purchase market, strategically offloading older vessels.
The fleet modernisation strategy has continued into 2025, with shipbroking sources reporting that Navios has recently sold two Panamax bulk carriers built in 2005 and 2006.
