Chemical tanker operator Alba Tankers will aim to reduce fleetwide emissions with a focus on sub-20,000 dwt tankers
Denmark-headquartered Alba Tankers, which operates chemical and oil tankers in the North Europe-West Mediterranean region has tapped Finnish maritime technology firm Seaber.io to provide chartering and scheduling processes to help the tanker operator improve its operational efficiency.
Alba Tanker’s chartering and commercial team is based in Gothenburg, Sweden and the company’s tanker focus is mainly on vessels below 20,000 dwt, trading petroleum products, chemicals and vegetable oils with a fleet of 20 vessels.
Seaber.io’s services are targeted at commercial operators such as Alba Tankers to help maximise fleet TCE by simplifying chartering and scheduling functions and estimating the impact of the EU emissions trading scheme (ETS), which will come into force next year.
Alba Tankers head of commercial operations Håkan Kalmerlind said, “We aim to make sure we operate as environmentally friendly as possible. With current and emerging emission regulations the whole planning process becomes more complex. With Seaber.io’s software, our team can quickly make decisions by following KPIs and compare multiple scenarios in no time.”
The web-based application supports single-cargo voyages, multi-parcel and multi-port voyages. The technology, based on a modern tech stack, integrates seamlessly with existing software solutions such as voyage management Ssystems and ERP’s according to Seaber.io.
Seaber.io chief executive and co-founder Sebastian Sjöberg, added, “One of Alba Tanker’s objectives is to use innovative technology to further improve efficiency and reduce emissions. This is what inspires the whole Seaber team to further develop our solution jointly with our customers.”
