Bio-UV Group has introduced a lifetime warranty for its BIO-SEA ballast water treatment systems, ensuring long-term compliance and operational reliability for shipowners
France-based Bio-UV Group has introduced a lifetime warranty on all installations of its BIO-SEA ballast water treatment systems.
This warranty, applicable across the entire range of BIO-SEA units, is designed to provide ship operators with assurance regarding the long-term durability and performance of their systems.
"The whole-life warranty reflects our confidence in the reliability of our technology," said Bio-UV Group deputy managing director Simon Marshall.
The warranty requires a three or five-year aftermarket service agreement and is contingent on proper installation and operation according to the system’s manual. It also requires that maintenance is performed by a certified Bio-UV technician and replacement parts or consumables are sourced directly from Bio-UV Group or its official network.
Customers who opt for the lifetime warranty can access additional services such as precommissioning inspections, system start-up and commissioning, scheduled and reactive maintenance, and system training.
Bio-UV Group after-market director Jean-Philippe Picard de Muller highlighted the importance of proper maintenance in ensuring the longevity and compliance of the systems, noting the company’s experience in other industrial sectors supports this approach.
This warranty package complements the company’s recently introduced aftercare service plan, which offers ongoing support, servicing and spare parts throughout the operational life of the ballast water treatment system.
With the International Maritime Organization’s D-2 standard going into effect on 8 September 2024, just days after the conclusion of SMM, the shipping machinery and suppliers exhibition in Germany, shipowners will need to focus on maintaining their ballast water treatment systems in compliance with the new regulations.
"Shipowners should consider service and support models to ensure their systems remain compliant, thereby minimising the risk of non-compliance and avoiding potential operational disruptions," Mr Picard de Muller added.
