Jiangsu Zhenjiang Shipyard launched two tugs in three days in August for Chinese clients. The azimuthing stern drive (ASD) tugs left the hull construction docks and will be outfitted for domestic customers during the next few months.
On 16 and 18 August, Jiangsu Zhenjiang launched the hulls of two ASD tugs, each with total propulsion power of 3,824 kW. These are being built as a series of powerful harbour and terminal tugs for port operators in China.
They have slightly less power than an ASD tug Jiangsu Zhenjiang delivered on 28 July. Fuzhou Port took delivery of 4,420kW ASD tugboat Fu Gang Tuo 1 from the shipyard.
Also during July, Jiangsu Zhenjiang launched another 3,240-kW ASD tug for a domestic port operator. It was also busy over Q2 this year.
During June, the shipyard launched a 2,940-kW ASD tug, and then delivered a second ASD tug to the Qingdao Port operator. Qing Gang Tuo 2 was designed by the shipyard with total power of 5,120 kW.
This followed a busy May, where the shipyard delivered Da Gun Lun 1, a 3,824-kW ASD tug, to Tianjin Lingang Shipping Co, and launched a 4,420-kW ASD tug and a 3,676-kW unit, Gangxing Tuo 234 for Zhoushan Gangxing Towboat Co.
