"Noon reports will be dead and gone within a matter of a few years,” says maritime operational and safety technology company Danelec
As an agnostic platform – technology that can be used with any type of system – a new software from Danelec, Danelec Connect, is designed to boost operational efficiency, safety and sustainability and addresses "the many intricacies of vessel, fleet and voyage management", according to the company.
The platform was launched at APAC in Singapore, and is the result of Danelec’s acquisition of the Norwegian ship performance specialist Kyma in late 2021. It combines Kyma’s ship performance monitoring and Danelec’s data-capture enabled by its voyage data recorders and vessel remote servers.
Commenting on the launch of the new platform, Danelec Connect senior vice president Christian Treu said, "Kyma’s legacy and proficiency within ship performance monitoring and Danelec’s maritime data acquisition strengths combine to impact how shipowners manage their fleet with new, more efficient, cost effective and simplified workflows.”
“Shipping may lag behind, but we have seen progress on the digital agenda during the past three years and there is much more potential ahead – especially in noon reporting. Today, nearly 70% of all shipowners are exploring digital solutions to bring about operational efficiencies. With that transition, I feel confident noon reports will be dead and gone within a matter of a few years.”
Danelec Connect collects high-quality data regardless of source or format across single or multiple vessels. It uses automated reporting to ensure smoother compliance with emissions regulations and offers visuals on fuel consumption, Carbon Intensity Index (CII), and other critical metrics.
The company said the driver for the development of Danelec Connect is the need to base shipping’s digitalisation on enabling faster and easier access to valid data. The product is being pitched at vessel owners in a flexible manner, allowing them to select or combine four plans covering performance monitoring, environmental impact, API only or the full platform.
