Globe Wireless launches GSM

Globe Wireless has entered the realm of maritime GSM with the launch of a new service that enables crew to use their personal mobile phones for voice and SMS communications while at sea.

GlobeMobile is compatible with VSAT, Iridium OpenPort and FleetBroadband terminals. The network provides standard voice calls to and from ship, full SMS messages support, and onboard mobile to mobile calling. GlobeMobile also allows visitors to ‘roam’ into the ship.

Prepaid SIMs provide voice and SMS service while aboard the ship, and can also be used while onshore using standard GSM roaming.
