Napa Group goes to Romania

Finnish ship design software house, Napa Group, has established a subsidiary company in Galati, Romania.

Napa Romania will focus mainly on software development for new Napa projects. “The office will strengthen our product development, allowing us to take full advantage of the combination of IT and naval architectural expertise found in the region. Projects will be carried out in close co-operation with the Helsinki office, where the most of the development work will still be concentrated,” says Tom Sundell, vice president of the Napa Technology Unit.

Galati was considered the ideal location since it is less than 15km from Romania’s five leading shipyards and is also the home of the only university in Romania offering a major course in naval architecture as well as a major one in computer science. MEC
