Stena Bulk has appointed a global partner for jettyless LNG transfer solutions, expanding its role in alternative marine infrastructure
Stena Bulk has appointed an exclusive global partner for a jettyless liquefied natural gas technology.
In a statement, the company confirmed it will collaborate with Connect LNG AS to commercialise and deploy its jettyless transfer solutions.
Stena Bulk president and chief executive Erik Hånell said the agreement reflected the company’s strategy to explore new technologies that support flexible energy transport. He said the partnership would provide the means to deliver LNG to areas where conventional infrastructure is not available.
Mr Hånell added that jettyless transfer systems can reduce development time compared with traditional fixed jetties. He noted the approach could help meet demand in regions requiring fast or temporary import and export solutions.
The company stated Connect LNG’s technology is designed to provide ship-to-shore LNG transfer without permanent infrastructure.
According to the release, the concept can be used for both loading and discharge, creating new options for projects where fixed facilities are either unsuitable or economically unfeasible.
