Van Wijngaarden Marine Services in the Netherlands has signed a letter of intent with Kooiman Marine Group for the design and construction of a DP2 multipurpose vessel
The MPV 4716 design will be used to undertake work in shallow water and be capable of anchor handling operations, subsea work and of providing support to offshore and renewable energy projects.
Designed and built to comply with IMO Tier III emissions and ultra low emission vessel requirements, the vessel will have a diesel-electric/hybrid propulsion system.
The new vessel will have a length overall of 47 m, beam of 16 m and draft of around 3 m. It will be fitted with two deck cranes with a capacity of 17 tonnes at 21 m outreach, and towing/anchor handling winch capable of 50/220 tonnes pull and 250/250 tonnes hold. It will have accommodation for 27 crew.
The Dutch owner said the accommodation will be “tailored for extended missions, ensuring comfort and space for a full crew.” The company said the mix of single and double cabins “reflects our ongoing commitment to crew welfare and operational efficiency.”
