Yara Marine is rebranding as Manta Marine Technologies following its acquisition by Okapi Supply Trading Advisory
Earlier this month, Riviera Maritime Media reported on Yara Marine Technologies’ (YMT) acquisition for an undisclosed sum. As part of Okapi’s portfolio, the new brand will be called Manta Marine Technologies.
The cosmetic change comes with changes to leadership. Ina Reksten, who previously served as deputy chief executive will take over as chief executive. Outgoing chief executive Thomas Koniordos has been appointed as chair of the board, while former chief sales officer, Aleksander Askeland will serve as new chief financial officer with Richard Engelhart Bjercke steping up as the new chief commercial officer.
“I am confident Manta Marine Technologies, with Ina at the helm of its new leadership team, will continue to excel at advancing sustainable solutions for the maritime industry,” said new owner, Okapi Supply Trading Advisory chief executive, Mohamed J Ndao. “All our products, such as FuelOpt and shore power solutions, are well known for their ability to help make vessels greener. Our new team will build on this success and ensure we help our sector move closer towards a low and zero-carbon future.”
Ms Reksten explained, “By becoming part of the Okapi family we will be able to offer our customers more efficient and effective solutions towards green operations.”
In addition to developing new technologies like wind propulsion, Manta will continue to support existing customers with lifecycle services.
The Manta Marine portfolio can be accessed at the company’s new website www.mantamarine.no and includes propulsion optimisation system FuelOpt; state-of-the-art performance management and reporting system Fleet Analytics; cloud-based AI-powered ship operation support system RoutePilot AI; and shore power installations for vessels. Additionally, FuelOpt also supports wind-assisted propulsion that optimises power and records fuel performance on vessels with sails, rotors, kites and wings.
