P&O Maritime Logistics announced a ‘triple win,’ securing long-term contracts for three of its platform supply vessels (PSVs) in Qatar in April 2021
In a social media post, P&O Maritime reported Topaz Megan was contracted to provide supply services in Qatar’s North Field, where the PSV will be joined in the country by vessels Topaz Isra and Topaz Sophie. Both vessels are working under three-year contracts in the giant Al Shaheen Field, Qatar’s largest offshore oil field with 33 platforms and over 300 wells. Ongoing development at the field is being undertaken by North Oil Company, a joint venture of Total and Qatar Petroleum. Production from the field represents about 45% of Qatar’s oil output.
Qatar’s North Field in the Middle East Gulf is one of the largest gas fields in the world, underpinning the country’s global leadership in supplying liquefied natural gas (LNG).
Topaz Megan, Topaz Isra and Topaz Sophie are all Topaz Daughter-class PSVs. Each has an overall length of 75 m, beam of 17.25 m, depth of 8 m and draught of 6.5 m, with a deck area of 700 m2. Built to ABS class at Fujian Southeast Shipyard in 2013, the 3,300-dwt vessels have + A1 (E) Offshore Support Vessel, Fire Fighting Vessel Class 1, HNLS, OSR-C, + AMS, ACCU, DPS-2, SPS notations. Equipped with dynamic positioning class 2 capability, the PSVs have azimuth thrusters and two fixed-pitch bow thrusters.
