One of the major manufacturers of engines for workboats, offshore support vessels and tugs has extended the contract of a board chairman as the industry begins deploying propulsion using alternative fuels
For continued business stability, the supervisory board of Rolls-Royce Power Systems has extended the contract of Jörg Stratmann as chairman of the board of management until 14 November 2027.
Rolls-Royce is one of the leading manufacturers of four-stroke diesel engines used in workboats, offshore support vessels and tugs worldwide through its mtu brand.
"Jörg Stratmann leads Rolls-Royce Power Systems with a results-oriented approach and has shaped the strategic positioning with a steady and consistent hand,” said Rolls-Royce Power Systems chairwoman of the supervisory board, Jasmin Staiblin.
“The supervisory board is looking forward to continuing the joint and successful journey of Rolls-Royce Power Systems with him and the entire team also in the future.”
Rolls-Royce Power Systems supervisory board deputy chairman, Thomas Bittelmeyer, said “The extension of Jörg Stratmann’s contract is a signal of stability in a phase of change.”
This includes the maritime and offshore sectors move into testing engines and generators on biofuels, methanol and LNG, with trials coming for hydrogen and ammonia.
“In the past two and a half years, we have realigned Rolls-Royce Power Systems strategically, implemented numerous performance-enhancing measures, and achieved record results, significantly advancing the company,” said Dr Stratmann.
“I look forward to continuing this journey. I would like to thank the supervisory board for its trust and am excited to continue working with the board of management, the broader leadership group, and our highly committed and skilled global workforce.”
