Maritime vessel vetting company Rightship’s emissions portal and its partnership with data provider Shipfix are targeting ESG decision making for both port and terminal management, and cargo fixing transactions
RightShip said its Maritime Emissions Portal (MEP) is a new tool targeted at boardroom level decisions by ports and terminal operators who are trying to lower ship-based emissions in port.
"MEP is the first part of a planned environmental social governance (ESG) solution for the ports and terminals sector from RightShip, helping to improve the air quality at ports and surrounding residential areas," RightShip said in a statement.
With Scope III emissions – indirect emissions that take place within a company’s supply chain footprint – increasingly targeted for reduction, the new data portal will combine AIS ship movement data and RightShip’s vetting data on vessels.
The tool will show "emissions inventory and air quality" data using heatmaps and filters, according to RightShip.
Also targeting ESG decision makers, RightShip has agreed to be a data provider for Shipfix’s maritime and commodities market data feeds.
The charterers using Shipfix’s platform will now have access to RightShip’s suite of vetting information, including its GHG ratings, safety scores and inspections data.
According to a statement from Shipfix, RightShip’s data will be overlaid on Shipfix’s real-time AIS and will include vessel position data and vessel directories, maps and vessel tonnage.
“This strategic partnership supports our desire to promote sustainable chartering and trading across the industry, both from an environmental perspective but also for the well-being of seafarers and shore-based operators," said Shipfix co-founder and chief executive Antoine Grisay.
