A Danish major tug owner that is affiliated to Maersk has appointed a new head of its operations in Americas and another to lead its European activities
Svitzer has promoted Daniel Reedtz Cohen to the position of managing director of for its operations across the Americas.
He will succeed Arjen Van Dijk has served as lead Svitzer’s operations in the region for the past six years and will to lead the Copenhagen, Denmark-headquartered owner’s European business from 1 January 2026.
Mr Cohen has been with Svitzer for the past 12 years, including the last nine years in Brazil, and most recently served as managing director in that nation, where Svitzer is building its fleet through domestic newbuilding programmes.
He said, Svitzer will partner with shipowners and terminal operators to support their growth in the Americas region.
“Towage plays an essential role in efficient, reliable supply chains, and the region’s growth potential can be improved by optimising this critical infrastructure in ports and terminals,” said Mr Cohen.
In the Americas, Svitzer is present in 13 countries and 26 ports, operating more than 100 vessels in South and Central America, the Caribbean and Canada, serving major ports and providing critical support to industries.
