South Korean cable manufacturer Taihan says its newly acquired cable-laying vessel Palos has completed installation of the export cables for the Yeonggwang Nakwol offshore wind project
The project, near Songido, Nakwol-myeon, Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do, is a 365-MW windfarm and was the first deployment of Palos since its acquisition by Taihan.
The installation, covering two 28-km lines, was carried out in two phases: the first phase took place over two weeks in mid-May, and the second phase began in late June and was completed in mid-July.
Installation of inter-array cables, also produced by Taihan, is due commence shortly.
Palos was acquired by Taihan to enable it to provide a turnkey production, transport, installation, and maintenance capability. It is currently Korea’s only cable-lay vessel.
