Scafi Group subsidiary welcomes another newbuild tug in growing Croatian port
Jadranski Pomorski Servis, a subsidiary of Italian tug owner Scafi, has taken delivery of harbour tugboat Titan in the port of Rijeka, Croatia. This is the second multipurpose tugboat Sanmar Shipyards has built for the principal seaport in Croatia in 2024, the first being Moretto.
Sanmar built Titan initially as Bogacay LXXII to Robert Allan Ltd’s RAmparts 2400SX MKII design, and it was completed and renamed before transiting to the Croatian port.
This 24-m vessel has a bollard pull of 80 tonnes, a moulded beam of 12 m incorporated for greater performance and stability, a least moulded depth of 4.5 m and navigational draught of 5.5 m.
Titan was built for coastal and harbour towing, ship escort and handling. Its twin Z-drive thrusters are larger than similar-sized tugs and it can carry up to 77,900 litres of fuel oil.
“Bogacay tugs have developed over many years and now utilise the latest technologies and design advances to great effect,” said Sanmar Shipyards commercial director Rüçhan Çıvgın. “They offer unrivalled performance and efficiency in a wide range of duties. Their versatility is what makes them so popular. Titan is a workhorse tug that will simply get the job done.”
Scafi is a leader in the Mediterranean towage sector, operating tugs through subsidiaries and joint ventures in Italy, Croatia, Greece and Morocco.
Jadranski Pomorski Servis has provided ship handling in the north Adriatic since 1956, first as part of the state-owned company Luka Rijeka, and from 1989, as a privately owned Croatian company.
