A secondhand VLCC sold in late 2025 and officially transferred to new ownership at the beginning of this year has reportedly been resold and now appears on consolidator Sinokor’s fleet list
The vessel in question is 2016-built Bangladesh Prosperity, which has been listed under Sinokor since the beginning of the month, according to Equasis data.
What makes this case particularly interesting is that the vessel was reportedly sold in November to commodity giant Trafigura under its previous name, Landbridge Prosperity. At the time, it was reportedly divested en bloc with Landbridge Fortune for approximately US$86M each.
Equasis data further shows that Landbridge Prosperity was renamed Veni Vidi Vici in January, confirming the change of ownership. With the vessel now undergoing another name change within just two months – alongside updated ownership data – it appears that Sinokor has acquired it.
Notably, 10-year-old VLCCs are now valued by Greek shipbrokers at around US$110M, up approximately 5% over the past month. Data from Veson Nautical also indicates that 10-year-old asset values have risen by nearly 3% over the past week and by more than 30% over the last three months.
Trafigura declined to comment when contacted by Riviera regarding the reported sale. The commodity giant is known to be pursuing significant growth in the VLCC segment, targeting both newbuildings and secondhand acquisitions.
This case highlights not only that VLCCs are selling like hot cakes in the current market, but also underscores Sinokor’s strong appetite for mid-aged and modern vessels.
According to Equasis, more than 30 VLCCs have already been delivered to the aggressively expanding Sinokor, recently confirmed to be backed by the Aponte family-led MSC, with more expected in the near term. The group now also appears to be targeting the Suezmax segment.
According to Allied Shipbroking, from the start of the year up to 24 March, a total of 89 VLCCs have changed hands, compared to 55 during the whole of 2025. VLCCs are by far the most sought-after tanker segment, followed by MR tankers.
