Tug owners, salvage companies, ports and innovators have been shortlisted for the industry honours as voting opens for the ITS 2026 awards
Voting is underway for the International Tug & Salvage (ITS) 2026 Awards, which recognise the outstanding vessels, operators, innovators and professionals that raise the bar for safety, sustainability, and operational excellence.
Winners, selected by industry peers, will be recognised for meaningful achievements and operational excellence during the gala dinner at the 28th 2026 ITS Convention, Exhibition & Awards, to be held 19-21 May in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Professionals from the tug, towage and salvage industry are invited to view the shortlisted nominees below and cast their votes before 14 May 2026.
Innovation of the Year Award 2026, sponsored by Damen, recognises an innovative product, service or system that has significantly improved a tug design, build and/or operational aspect over the last 12 months.
Shortlisted nominees are: AST Reygar for its BareFleet digital platform; Boluda Towage for incorporating energy optimisation and shaft generators on newly constructed tugboats; LionRock Maritime for its PowerCaptain platform; Med Marine, Robert Allan Ltd and Caterpillar for jointly developing battery-electric tugboat VoltRA; Svitzer and Wallenius Wilhelmsen for their EcoTow global agreement; and Svitzer, Uzmar and Robert Allan Ltd for designing and building the world’s first battery-methanol tugboat, Svitzer Balder, to support ships in the Port of Gothenburg.
Ports & Harbour Award 2026 recognises a port or harbour that has set industry benchmarks in one or more of the following areas over the last 12 months: safety, security, environment, efficiency and operational excellence.
Shortlisted nominees are: Port of Gothenburg in Sweden, for its environmental leadership in Scandinavia; Port of Los Angeles and Long Beach, California, USA, for its planned electric tugboat fleet; and PSA for enabling operational sustainability in Singapore through hybrid-electric tugs.
Safety Award 2026 will be awarded to a company, person, project or product that has either set industry safety benchmarks and/or made a difference in terms of safety of life, property and environment for tugs over the last 12 months.
Shortlisted nominees are: Aksis Fire for its AKS5112 clean-agent fire suppression system; British Tugowners Association for publishing its Guide on the Use of Tugs in Firefighting; DotOcean for its Visor situational awareness system; Hampidjan Advant for its Safe Tow towing line; the UK’s Marine Accident Investigation Branch for publishing a video safety bulletin on towage; and PSA Marine for its safety transformation across tug and port operations.
Salvage Company of the Year Award 2026, sponsored by Uzmar, recognises a salvor that has set industry benchmarks in the last 12 months in terms of successful projects, safety, operations, technical excellence, crewing and training.
Shortlisted nominees are: Aras Salvage, Boluda Towage’s Les Abeilles, Donjon Marine, Fratelli Neri & BlueTack and Megatugs Salvage & Towage.
Tug Owner of the Year Award 2026, sponsored by Med Marine, will be awarded to a company that has set industry benchmarks in one or more of the following areas over the last 12 months: safety, operations, technical excellence, crewing and training, environment and business development.
Shortlisted nominees are: Boluda Towage, Moran Towing, Multraship Towage & Salvage, PSA Marine, SAAM Towage and Svitzer.
Tug of the Year Award 2026, sponsored by Bureau Veritas, will be awarded to one of the following shortlisted vessels: BB Power, Isla Popa, SAAM Trapananda, SD Aisemaht, Svitzer Barrington, Svitzer Balder, VB Bolu or Victoria.
Lifetime Achievement Award 2026, sponsored by Sanmar Shipyards, will be awarded to an individual whose contribution has outstanding significance to the international tug and salvage industry.
