A bulk carrier group is using Finnish maritime tech to digitalise fleet planning, scheduling and voyage management to cut fuel consumption and emissions
G2 Ocean is using Seaber.io’s chartering and schedule optimisation software and a platform augmented by artificial intelligence (AI) to optimise its fleet planning.
The Bergen, Norway-headquartered group is maximising fleet utilisation and reducing fuel consumption and emissions using these tools to manage ship scheduling and voyages.
“We aim to digitalise our fleet planning process to increase efficiency in our organisation,” said G2 Ocean director of digitalisation and innovation, Benedicte Hjelle Størksen, adding these Seaber tools support “quick calculations and optimised fleet plan suggestions. By using Seaber, we aim to increase automation and data-driven decision-making to reduce ballasting days and our carbon footprint.”
G2 Ocean was founded in 2017 by the shipowning companies Gearbulk and Grieg Maritime Group. It claims to be the world’s largest ship operator within the open-hatch segment, operating 90 open-hatch vessels and 26 vessels chartered from third parties.
“By adopting our scheduling software, G2 Ocean is taking a significant step toward enhancing operational efficiency while reducing its environmental footprint,” said Seaber chief revenue officer, Jean-Guy Faubert.
“Our platform empowers companies to make data-driven decisions that optimise voyages, increase fleet utilisation and minimise emissions.”
