French membrane containment specialist GTT has received an order from South Korean shipyard Samsung Heavy Industries, for the tank design of a floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) vessel, on behalf of an unnamed Asian company
The 200,000-m3 FLNG will be the first FLNG fitted with GTT’s Mark III membrane containment system. Vessel delivery is scheduled for Q1 2027.
GTT chairman and chief executive Philippe Berterottière said, “We are proud to be involved in the construction of this FLNG. Thanks to our Mark III Flex technology, this FLNG will benefit from the best thermal performance available today. This new order brings to five the number of FLNGs fitted with GTT technologies.”
Last week, GTT secured a deal to supply three vessels with its new predictive maintenance system, the Sloshing Virtual Sensor. The technology has recently received an approval in principle from class society Lloyd’s Register for the technology.
GTT has separately won an order from South Korean shipyard Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries for the tank design of three new LNG carriers on behalf of an unnamed Asian shipowner.
GTT will design the tanks of these three vessels, which will each offer a total cargo capacity of 174,000 m3 and will be fitted with the Mark III Flex membrane containment system.
The delivery of the vessels is scheduled between Q4 2026 and Q4 2027, GTT said.
The company has also won contracts for the tank designs for three new LNG carriers being built at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME).
The orders came from unnammed owners, two on behalf of a European shipowner, and the other for an Asian shipowner.
GTT will design the tanks of these three vessels, which will each offer a total cargo capacity of 174,000 m3 and will be fitted with the NO96 GW membrane containment system, developed by GTT.
The delivery of the vessels is scheduled between the first and the second quarters of 2027.
