Evangelos Marinakis–led Capital Offshore and Hayfin Capital Management–backed United Offshore Support (UOS) have joined forces to establish a new ship management joint venture operating a fleet of more than 30 offshore support vessels
Under the agreement, Capital Offshore will acquire 50% of UOS shares from Hayfin, creating, upon completion of the transaction, the new entity UOS Capital.
As part of the deal, Capital Offshore’s existing fleet and its 12-vessel PSV and MPSV newbuilding programme will come under UOS Capital’s management. Once all newbuildings are delivered, UOS Capital will provide full technical, crewing, and commercial management for a combined fleet of over 30 anchor handling, platform supply, and subsea support vessels controlled by its shareholders.
Evangelos Marinakis was one of the first Greek shipowners to venture into the offshore vessel sector in recent years. In late 2023 and early 2024, Capital Offshore acquired seven PSVs through secondhand transactions.
Hayfin Capital Management brings a strong background in maritime investment, with more than US$4Bn deployed across bulk carriers, tankers, container ships, and LPG and LNG carriers. UOS’ fleet comprises 11 significantly modified MOSS 424h vessels and two UT 786 CD design anchor handlers, according to information on the company’s website.
Major force in the OSV sector
UOS chief executive Howard Woodcock described the venture as marking a new chapter for the company:
“By combining our heritage and expertise with Capital Offshore’s expanding fleet, including the latest-technology newbuildings under construction, we are building a business with international reach and resilience that can deliver long-term value for clients and stakeholders.”
Capital Offshore chief operating officer Harry Knox called the partnership “a significant force in the offshore support sector.” He added:
“UOS Capital will be well positioned to serve all its clients safely and reliably, combining the strong maritime experience and knowledge of the Capital Maritime Group with the offshore-focused operational culture and legacy that UOS has built over many years.”
Hayfin managing director and head of the maritime team Andreas Povlsen, commented:
“The joint venture with Capital Offshore will allow the two companies to benefit from their highly complementary offerings, building a ship management platform with the potential for further growth and value creation.”
