A Norwegian shipyard is constructing a live fish carrier with dynamic positioning and integrated bridge system
North Salmon Service has ordered a new live fish carrier from Fitjar Mekaniske Verksted (FMV) shipyard in Norway to have the latest integrated bridge systems.
Bergen, Norway-headquartered Norwegian Electric Systems (NES), a subsidiary of Oslo-listed HAV Group, will supply navigation and dynamic positioning equipment to this vessel in H1 2027.
NES will provide its Raven INS (integrated navigation system) and Raven JPOS (dynamic positioning system) for this newbuild project at the shipyard in Fitjar, south of Bergen and north of Haugesund.
The Raven INS combines radar, ECDIS, autopilot, trackpilot, alarms and relevant sensor data into a common user interface on the bridge.
“For this project, a complete turnkey bridge solution is being delivered, comprising a fully integrated navigation and integrated DP system, communication equipment, sensors and associated operator consoles with monitor matrix,” said NES managing director Siv Remøy-Vangen.
NES is supplying other systems for this vessel construction project as in October 2025, it was awarded a contract to act as system integrator and deliver power and automation systems.
Orca AI and Riviera will be hosting a navigation briefing on 30 March 2026 in a webinar: GPS Under Attack: Preparing for a World of Unreliable Navigation. Use this link for more information and to register your interest to attend.
