Tanker operator Neste has invested in software for planning maritime logistics activities including shipping schedules and port calls
Finnish maritime technology company Seaber.io has supplied this software, enabling Neste to optimise fleet operations and reduce costs per tonne-mile, reducing the environmental impact from shipping.
Seaber’s programs support single-cargo routes, multi-parcel and multi-port voyages, where unnecessary ballast voyages and low utilisation rates are common. This software will help Neste to become a global leader in renewable and circular solutions, said Neste shipping asset and sustainability manager Paavo Kojonen.
“To achieve this, we need to find new ways to reduce the amount of carbon released into the atmosphere. New solutions and partnerships like Seaber are needed to help us optimise maritime logistics, which is one step towards reducing emissions.”
Seaber chief executive and co-founder Sebastian Sjöberg agreed the programs will reduce Neste’s logistics emissions.
“This collaboration enables Neste to optimise its processes, increase vessel utilisation and reduce emissions and cost per tonne-mile,” he said. “Our partnership allows Seaber to further develop our solution for the benefit of the industry.”
