Incat Crowther has been awarded the contract for the design and construction of a 32m catamaran ferry for Ishigaki Dream Tours in Japan. The 257-passenger vessel will be built by Richardson Devine Marine at its new facility in Hobart, Tasmania.
The hull will feature a main cabin containing seating for 165 passengers and a kiosk. There will be further seating for 40 passengers in the mid deck cabin together with kiosk and toilet facilities. In addition, 40 exterior seats will be fitted behind the mid deck cabin and on the upper deck.
The catamaran will be powered by twin Caterpillar C32 engines each producing 1,044kW (1,400bhp) for a service speed of 28 knots at full load and a top speed of 31 knots. FT
