Newly acquired by MacGregor, Plimsoll Corporation is now part of the company’s offshore division. MacGregor has recently secured another order for packages of Plimsoll deck machinery for a series of 120-tonne bollard-pull anchor-handlers ordered by a Japanese owner.
Niigata Shipbuilding & Repair in Japan has ordered five shipsets of deck machinery to be installed on these 70m AHTS vessels. Three shipsets of equipment will be delivered this year and the other two in 2009.
Each package features Plimsoll-designed electro-hydraulic drive main winches, with a 200 tonne line pull and 300 tonne brake holding power. Also included are a service crane, a 300 tonne SWL shark jaw tow pin, and a newly designed stern roller which uses a taper roller bearing instead of the conventional bush bearing type. OSJ
