Redknee Solutions, a specialist company providing infrastructure software that personalises services and content for mobile operators, has been selected by Inmarsat to provide a real-time ‘converged billing’ solution.
The first tangible result of the agreement was a new billing functionality for subscribers to Inmarsat’s Satellite Phone Services (SPS), which went live in November 2007. Now, in the second phase, Redknee is working with Inmarsat on a similar solution for the company’s broadband global area network (BGAN) service. The agreement represents Redknee’s first entry into the global mobile satellite communications market.
Redknee’s billing solution provides a centralised platform to Inmarsat, making use of its satellite-based pre-paid voice, messaging and data services while supporting Inmarsat’s growth strategy by exploiting both distributor and reseller relationships.
Lucas Skoczkowski, chief executive officer at Redknee, commented: “Our converged billing solution continues to take market share in the wireless segment while being introduced to fixed, broadband and IPTV operators.”
Michael Butler, president and chief operating officer at Inmarsat, added: “We chose the Redknee platform for its ability to integrate seamlessly with our existing customer resource management system and its ability to support planned new services in various configurations without interruption.” MEC
