Norwegian owner Simon Møkster Shipping has deployed VPS’s Yxney Maritime’s software Maress on its fleet of platform supply vessels (PSVs) and emergency response and rescue vessels (ERRVs)
This software helps vessel crews to optimise operations and reduce fuel costs and emissions, saving money for the owner and charterer, and cutting pollution to the atmosphere during offshore operations.
Simon Møkster ran its Summer Emissions Reduction Campaign, a competition between vessels to identify the top performers in 2022.
The winners were vessels which improved efficiency and emissions during the competition period, with some vessels increasing efficiency by more than 30%.
“During this year’s campaign the vessels have competed against their own baseline in a respective mode of operation within their segment,” said Simon Møkster.
The vessels were divided into two segments – transit for PSVs and other OSVs, and standby mode for ERRVs.
In transit mode, Stril Mar was the top performer with increased efficiency of 34%, followed by Stril Barents with an increased efficiency of 26% and Stril Pioneer with an increased efficiency of 21%.
In standby mode, Stril Poseidon increased efficiency by 36%. It beat Stril Mariner, with an increased efficiency of 25%, and Stril Merkur, which raised efficiency by 16%.
“We are also happy to see the commitment around this campaign, and how the entire fleet has participated to reduce their own consumption and emissions throughout the summer,” said Simon Møkster. “Well done everybody!”
The Norwegian owner is now running an annual campaign, where all vessels compete for the overall reduction in fuel consumption and emissions with regards to all operational modes. The winner will be announced early 2023.
Yxney Maritime has also been busy over the northern hemisphere summer period. It launched its CORE emissions tracking software for owners and operators, September 2022, amid growing market and regulatory pressures.
Among the early adopters are Norwegian offshore vessel owners Solstad Offshore and Siem Offshore, who will install the software across a global fleet of more than 100 vessels to augment their existing VPS suite of Maress and NOxDigital offerings.
