Solstad Offshore doubles-down on sustainability effort

To remain a leading vessel owner and operator in the future, Solstad believes it is essential to intensify its work in this area, the company said.

It recently set a target to reduce emissions from its fleet by 50% compared to 2008 levels, by 2030; and to cut emissions by 100% by 2050.

To help it meet its ambitions, it has appointed Tor Inge Dale, currently Solstad Offshore’s chief operations officer, as chief sustainability officer.

Mr Dale started his career in Solstad in 2008 as an environment and development engineer and played a key role in the development of an earlier sustainability effort, ‘Solstad Green Operations.’

Mr Dale will lead the sustainability department effective from 6 April 2021. In his new role, he will be leading the company’s work towards zero emissions, establishing innovative solutions and ensuring compliance across the spectrum of sustainability.

Tor Johan Tveit will take over as COO and lead on crewing, technical, HSEQ, procurement and ICT. He has spent most of his career at Solstad and has extensive maritime, operational and management background. For the last few years he has been operations director for the company’s global AHTS/PSV fleet.

Solstad Offshore chief executive Lars Peder Solstad also recently announced that the company is planning to increase its presence in the renewable energy market, in addition to the offshore oil and gas sector.
