SunRui Marine Environment Engineering has received orders to supply its BalClor ballast water management system (BWMS) for a total of 30 newbuildings in its native China. Although it announced the orders today (25 November) it is not clear when the orders were placed. BWTT is seeking further details about the contracts.
Its equipment will be installed on 10 VLCCs of 300,000 dwt as well as 20 VLOCs of 400,000 dwt. They are contracted at the Shanghai Waigaoqiao, Qingdao Beihai, Yangzijiang, China Merchants and the Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Group.
SunRui’s statement said these orders help it to keep its leading position in the BWMS market for large vessels, although it acknowledges the newbuilding market in general is at a low level this year. It said it won these orders “after hot competition with major competitors.”
It uses electrolysis as its treatment technology and it describes its equipment as being reliable, flexible and compact while being able to handle high volumes of water, making it suitable for large ore carriers and tankers.
It has an automatic production line that can produce 1,000 sets each year, its statement today said.
It completed all the tests necessary to apply for USCG type-approval in April, at which time it hoped to be among the first to obtain that approval. BWTT has invited SunRui to offer a progress report towards that goal.
