DP-3 flotel has been awarded a 160-day contract to support Saipem’s Neptun Deep Gas Development Project offshore Romania in the Black Sea
Nortrans Offshore’s Temis maintenance and safety unit (MSU) DP-3 flotel has been awarded a 160-day contract to support Saipem’s Neptun Deep Gas Development Project offshore Romania in the Black Sea.
Designed by Vard and built in 2015 by China’s Mawei Shipbuilding, the 84-m Temis has a deck cargo capacity of 500 tonnes and can accommodate 501.
This latest contract is indicative of strong demand for the high-spec flotel for deepwater oil and gas projects. Most recently deployed in the Mediterranean for Chevron’s Tamar Optimization Project, the MSU will support the Neptun Deep Project through the hook-up and commissioning phase, as well as providing subsequent assistance to the start-up of the Safe Work Procedure (SWP). A contract option could extend the vessel’s deployment an additional 170 days.
In November, Singapore-based Nortrans announced that Equinor had contracted Temis for five months to support the hook-up and commissioning phase of FPSO Bacalhau in Brazil. Equinor can exercise an option for an additional five months to support the start-up of FPSO Bacalhau, which was named during a ceremony in Singapore at Seatrium’s Tuas Boulevard Yard in October. The FPSO is expected to start producing oil in 2025.
