Greek maritime digitalisation firm Oriani will represent software provider VesOPS in Greece, to help companies reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions
VesOPS’ services provide shipowners a fleetwide overview of GHG emissions, with decision support to users both on land and on board.
The company has developed software focused on the detailed performance analysis of the ship, which is designed to work with anything from one daily noon-report to huge volumes of high-frequency sensor data – the software compares live performance against a calculated baseline to provide owners and operators with better information on how a vessel is performing and what factors may affect performance.
The program provides proven fuel consumption tables for different conditions. This in turn supports operational decision making, including when to perform hull cleaning and propellor polishing, as well as commercial aspects, such as achieving the best charter party terms for an owner’s fleet with a balance between daily hire rate and CII rating impact.
Shipping continues to crack down on GHG emissions. IMO amendments on ship efficiency come into force this month, two months ahead of the mandatory energy efficiency calculations that will be required of all ships from 1 January 2023.
