Low quality ship performance data leads to annual losses for owners of up to US$300,000 per vessel
Hoppe Marine general manager Lothar Beinke said vessel operators need to focus on collating the right data and use a cloud-based storage facility to generate further cost savings. Improving the quality of primary data leads to better informed decisions to optimise operations further.
“Poor data quality as a basis for decision-making can mean additional annual costs for ship operations of US$300,000 and more per year,” said Mr Beinke.
Hoppe research and development team manager Klas Reimer added, “You cannot look for percentage cost savings through optimisation algorithms or new coatings if the primary parameters are faulty.”
To counter this, Hoppe has developed two cloud-based solutions based on an independent data platform, making ship data more available to shipowners.
These facilities can be used to access information for more-informed decisions on safety, compliance, planning and optimisation.
Hoppe is using its 70 years of experience in the fields of power management, tank content and draught measurement systems to deliver quality data to vessel owners and managers.
In that time, it has recognised how comprehensive access to trusted data is essential as a basis for qualified decision making.
It is offering Hoppe Data Butler for easy access to data in an unlimited cloud storage facility. This service includes encrypted ship-to-shore data transfer, 24/7 mobile access and remote service updates to customer-specific requirements.
Another new service is Hoppe Data Inspector. This analyses the collected data, checks the connected systems for proper operation and enables free access to validated data for managers.
Data quality can be pre-conditioned for compliance, planning and optimisation.
With Hoppe Data Inspector there are continuous system health checks and daily data evaluations by qualified service technicians, analysts and marine engineers.
This ensures transparency of fleet data for automatic reporting and quality of key performance indicators.
Hoppe provides indepth evaluation of primary signals to detect implausibilities, drifts and offsets and fast response through remote service attendance to reduce downtime to a minimum.
Data analysis, vessel optimisation and improved decision support will be discussed during Riviera’s series of virtual conferences and webinars in November and December 2020 - use this link to access more details and to register for these events
