One of Malaysia’s main owners of accommodation and maintenance support vessels has gained several contracts
Petra Energy has secured contracts covering offshore maintenance, construction, modification and hook-up services across Malaysia.
These four contracts involve work for Petronas Carigali and its production-sharing contractors JX Nippon Oil, SapuraOMV Upstream and ROC Oil in Sawarak. They could last for five years, starting in Q4 2024, with extension options for up to five more years.
Petra Energy has also started a four-year contract with Shell in Sawarak to provide offshore crane operations and maintenance services.
In Q3 2024, Petra Energy gained support to become the PSC operator of the Banang late-life asset project from Petronas. This award represents strategic progression for the Malaysian company, which has 12 years of experience working on the Banang field production infrastructure, first under a risk sharing contract and then a technical services agreement, to continue its operational life. “With our experience, we are well-equipped to ensure operations are conducted safely and efficiently,” said Petra Energy.
Also in Malaysia, Keyfield International’s subsidiary Keyfield Offshore has acquired a five-year-old DP2-capable platform supply vessel (PSV) from Sinocommerce Harbour Engineering for a reported US$17.6M.
Keyfield expects to incur another US$2M to mobilise this PSV, to be renamed Keyfield Gratitude, back to Malaysia and prepare it for long-term contracts.
