A Greek tanker owner has begun its digitalisation journey by deploying software to save time and money from procurement
Petrochem General Management (PGM) has adopted a digital platform to help crews reduce costs and the time spent on procurement.
The Greek owner has rolled out this digital programme across its fleet of 11 product and chemical tankers built between 2007 and 2018.
This platform provides online access to vetted suppliers, searches for providers in multiple ports and countries, enables transparent negotiations and communications, and offers structured quoting from local suppliers.
PGM said it had reached a “major milestone” by deploying Vsltec’s digital platform across the fleet, but this is “just the beginning” in its digitalisation strategy. “Onwards and upwards,” PGM said in a LinkedIn post.
Vsltec said this was “a significant move toward embracing digital innovation and boosting operational efficiency” by the Athens-headquartered tanker owner. “By adding their fleet on Vsltec, PGM is achieving full transparency into real costs, enabling quicker and more informed decision-making,” said Vsltec.
"Each vessel now operates with a consistent and dependable digital solution.”
Around 70 vessels and over 1,800 service providers across 4,500 ports are signed up to use Vsltec, according to the Athens, Greece-based software developer.
