Tero Marine has launched its latest real-time analytics for shipping companies to improve their operations and cut costs
The Ocean Technologies Group subsidiary introduced TM Insights to help shore-based managers identify operational efficiencies and reduce fleet expenses.
TM Insights is an interactive visualisation tool that converts real-time data into intuitive reports and charts. It works with Microsoft’s Power BI software and is integrated to work with Tero Marine’s TM Master suite of fleet management programs.
Managers can get a transparent overview of business performance from any desktop or mobile device to review more detail fleetwide, by ship type or by individual vessel to identify areas of concern and manage operating costs.
Roll out of TM Insights will be in a phased approach, starting with two TM Master modules covering maintenance and procurement. These provide an overview of the number of purchase orders raised, total spend and procurement methods employed, broken down into an analysis of purchase orders by type, department and order status.
Purchase cycle times can be monitored from the moment a requisition is raised to the time the goods have been received. The component jobs overview and its accompanying history report gives a full breakdown of any maintenance activities.
Users can detect and rectify any negative performance trends before they are picked up as observations by external authorities.
Tero Marine chief executive Rune Lyngaas said this would help shipmanagers and owners operate their fleets more efficiently and ensure regulatory compliance, avoiding costly fines and detentions.
“TM Insights has performed in a pilot with great feedback from key clients like OSM,” Mr Lyngaas said. “This has given us the confidence to launch phase one to all TM Master users, as having accurate data analytics in a user-friendly format is vital to benchmark performance, identify trends and highlight problem areas.”
Mr Lyngaas said phase two of TM Insights “will concentrate on human resources and quality assurance and will be released in 2021.”
Meanwhile, Voyager Worldwide has teamed up with port services provider S5 Agency World to provide information to shipping companies to assist in crew changes.
Voyager’s web services Fleet Insight will display details of Covid testing facilities in countries and ports worldwide. This includes information relating to booking requirements, service availability and costs.
Information can be displayed geographically on a GIS map, on C-Map or Admiralty electronic navigational charts and in tabular format alongside vessel data, such as position, destination port and estimated time of arrival.
Data analytics and cost reduction solutions will be discussed during Riviera’s upcoming Vessel Optimisation Webinar Week, 7-11 December 2020 - use this link for more details and to register for these events
