PXGeo extends offshore construction vessel to 2026, while former Viking Supply Ships chief commercial officer joins Sea1 Offshore in same role
Marine geophysical service provider PXGeo has extended the contract for the subsea vessel Sea1 Spearfish until Q1 2026, according to owner Sea1Offshore.
Based on a STX OSCV 03 design, Sea1 Spearfish is a DP-2-class offshore construction vessel (OCV) with an overall length of 120.8 m, beam of 23 m, draught of 6.6 m, with a clear deck area of 1,300 m2, one 250-t active heave compensation (AHC) offshore crane, a moonpool and accommodation for 110.
The 2014-built, Bahamian-flagged OCV was in the US Gulf of Mexico at the end of November, according to AIS tracking data.
The former Siem Offshore, Sea1 Offshore owns a fleet of 17 offshore support vessels and has commercial and technical management of 17 others.
AHTS management
Most recently Sea1 Offshore signed a contract to manage six anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessels for Viking Supply Ships. To enhance their capabilities to support offshore oil and gas and renewable projects, four of the Loke Viking AHTS vessels are due to undergo upgrades, including the installation of 100-ton AHC cranes, remotely operated vehicle (ROV) hangars and installation of launch and recovery systems for ROVs. The cranes are due for delivery in July 2026, and total estimated cost of the upgrade is around US$50M, according to Viking Supply Ships.
Former Viking Supply Ships chief commercial officer, Andreas Kjøl, is set to join Sea1 Offshore in the same role on 9 December.
