Seagull updates seafarer training app

Seagull Maritime has upgraded its application for mobile devices to improve administration of seafarer training. Seagull Training App v2.0 enables seafarers to track their training records and receive critical safety alerts.

It is available for devices run by Android and iOS operating systems. Seagull has refined the home screen, menus, functions and features of the software. It said this enhanced record keeping would allow mariners to maintain training schedules. Proficiencies are sorted by priority code and training deadlines are set for completion.

A list of pending proficiencies can be displayed and information of the next required proficiencies can be downloaded. The software can be synchronised for access to selected records within the Seagull Training Administrator Online database on all training requirements and competency. Training guidance notes can be downloaded while company notices and fleet circulars can be sent to seafarer’s mobile devices without using satellite communications.

Seagull Maritime managing director Roger Ringstad said the training application will help seafarers to demonstrate their competencies and owners to show them a viable career path. He added: “Investing in, and refining the software that supports competency and safety, offers tangible evidence of owner commitment to best practice.”
